Tailgate Orange Wheat

This beer poured a brilliant and burnished orange, with a soft haziness and a slightly off-white head. The nose prominently featured aromas of candied orange, tangerine peel, Cream of Wheat cereal, and a light hint of just-picked berries.

The first sip yielded huge orange juice vibes, a very zesty pop of fruitiness, with a creamy note on the tongue from the wheat in the grain bill. As the beer warmed, a pronounced citrusy pithiness developed, followed by a more gentle freshly squeezed orange juice flavor. Virtually no hop character was detected, though the citrus peel bite did a good job of providing some backbone to the beer. The beer finished clean and dry, with some fruity ester character, and a barely there spiciness.
